We are so excited to welcome you back to the Michael-Ann Russell JCC! We have been developing protocols and procedures that allow us to reopen the JCC cautiously, and with the health and safety of our members, guests, and staff as our highest priorities. These new protocols and procedures have been developed in accordance with recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Florida Department of Health, and local, county, and state authorities.

Your MARJCC experience will be different because we have raised our standards to an even higher level. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with our new policies and procedures. These policies may be subject to change as new guidelines are released.

 

  • Only MARJCC members are allowed on campus. No members can bring guests at this time.
  • Members and staff are required to wear face masks at all times.
  • Social distancing is required throughout our campus.
  • Before entering the building, members have their temperature taken using a noninvasive thermometer. If the temperature is 6° or higher, entry is not be permitted.
  • If you have experienced any of the symptoms listed below in the past 24 hours– fever of 99.6° or higher, cough, chills, headache, shortness of breath, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell, or muscle pain–we ask that you please stay home for the health and safety of our entire MARJCC family.
  • New waiver requires a signature. Click here to download.
  • Reservations are required through Mindbody for fitness center, group exercise classes, outdoor and indoor pools, and the Scheck Family gymnasium.
  • Reservations are required through playbycourt.com for tennis and pickleball.
  • Credit cards accepted only; no cash transactions.
  • Water fountains are not available; please bring a water bottle.

New Entry Protocols

  • Health Declaration: Members and staff are required to sign a mandatory Health Declaration waiver confirming they are neither experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 nor have come in contact with someone who is experiencing symptoms.
  • Temperature checks: Members and staff are required to have temperatures taken using a noninvasive thermal scanning thermometer before entering the JCC. Per CDC guidelines, individuals with a body temperature higher than 99.6° will not be permitted to enter the facility.
  • Notifications: Members are asked to alert a JCC Director if they test positive for COVID-19 within 14 days of their last visit. We will email notification to all those who were potentially exposed in the event of a confirmed case of COVID-19 at the MARJCC.
  • Face masks: Members and staff are required to wear masks at all times while in the Fitness Center.
  • Social distancing: All members must maintain at least six feet of physical distancing except with people from your household. Failure to social distance will result in immediate member suspension or termination.
  • If you have experienced any of the symptoms listed below in the past 24 hours– fever of 99.6° or higher, cough, chills, headache, shortness of breath, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell, or muscle pain– we ask that you please stay home for the health and safety of our entire MARJCC family.
  • Many areas of the JCC, including the Fitness Center’s cardio area, strength area, and cycle studio, have been reconfigured to help ensure social distancing.
  • Please follow the directional signage to ensure you are navigating through the JCC in the safest manner possible.

Points of Entry

  • Entrance Only: Members enter the facility through the two main entrance doors in a single-file line. No exiting is allowed through these doors. Please expect possible delays at peak times.
  • Exit Only: The double doors opposite the welcome desk are for exiting only, in a single-file line. Please expect possible delays at peak times.

Signage and Floor Markers

  • Physical distancing cues are marked in the group fitness studios, locker rooms, elevators, pool, lobby, and in the strength and cardio area to ensure members give each other enough space.
  • “Sanitized” signs placed on fitness equipment indicate which cardio machines are available for use.
  • Signage throughout the fitness center reminds members to wipe down equipment before and after use and to practice physical distancing.

Cleaning and Sanitizing Protocols

The JCC uses a comprehensive approach to cleaning and sanitizing protocols to ensure proper disinfection. All MARJCC staff have been trained on our new cleaning protocols, and our summer hours of operation have been adjusted to allow for deep cleaning.

  • Protocols meet or exceed CDC and EPA guidelines.
  • Hand sanitizing stations are available throughout the facility.
  • Members are required to wipe down equipment after each use.
  • Floors are cleaned daily with disinfectant.
  • Frequent contact surfaces are sanitized multiple times per day.
  • Health and hygiene reminders are prominently displayed throughout the facility, including handwashing, social distancing, and other guidelines.
  • The MARJCC contracts with a cleaning services company to disinfect areas throughout our campus.

Fitness Center

  • Face masks must be worn at all times.
  • Maximum of 18 members are allowed to exercise at a time.
  • Fitness equipment is reconfigured for social distancing.
  • Each session starts on the hour for a 45-minute interval.
  • Members required to wipe down the equipment used.
  • The fitness center closes for a period of 15 minutes to provide staff time to clean and disinfect the fitness equipment.
  • No towel service; please bring a towel.
  • Water fountains are turned off; please bring a water bottle.

Cardio and Strength Floor Etiquette

Fitness equipment is reconfigured for social distancing. Select equipment is clearly marked to facilitate physical distancing. Twenty-minute time limits may be imposed on the equipment during peak hours.

Personal Training and Pilates sessions: Members need to practice physical distancing etiquette during Personal Training and Pilates sessions. Trainers and instructors remain six feet away from clients, and all cueing and corrections will be done verbally. Virtual Personal Training is also available.

Cleaning and Sanitation in the Fitness Center

  • Additional hand sanitizers are strategically placed throughout the fitness center.
  • Disinfectant wipes are available to use on the equipment before and after use. Our disinfectant wipes are approved by the EPA for use against COVID-19 and proven to kill 99.9% of bacteria, viruses, and fungi on equipment while having the safest EPA toxicity rating.
  • In addition to existing continuous cleaning protocols, we have added a deep-cleaning and disinfecting process that occurs every hour for a period of 15 minutes.
  • Designated areas of the fitness center may be sectioned off during the day to facilitate cleaning.

Locker Rooms

  • Give each other space – use alternating lockers to maintain physical distancing.
  • Lockers are disinfected periodically throughout the day.
  • Showers are not available.
  • Washbasins, urinals, and bathrooms are available but spaced out to ensure social distancing.

Gym Bags

  • No gym bags are allowed in the Fitness Center. We recommend you do not bring bags to the facility.
  • Please store personal items in the lockers located in the locker rooms, or leave items locked and secure in your vehicle.
  • Restrooms and sinks are designated for use to ensure physical distancing.

Do Your Part

  • Be kind: Help maintain the JCC fitness center as a place where people can safely relieve stress and anxiety, with no judgments.
  • Be considerate: Follow our new fitness rules and continue to thoroughly wipe down equipment and machines before and after use.
  • Be mindful: Maintain a six-foot separation from fellow members on the fitness floor, in class, and the locker room.

Group Exercise

Capacity 

  • Studio adjacent to the fitness center: 10 members per class
  • Studio adjacent to cycle studio: 8 members per class
  • Cycle Studio: 12 members per class
  • Pilates Studio: 6 members per class

Reservations

  • Advanced reservations are required for all group fitness classes, and can be made through the Mindbody app. 
  • Look for floor markers, placed six-feet apart, to ensure social distancing.
  • Equipment, when applicable, will be laid out for attendees at the beginning of class.
  • Classes are scheduled  30 minutes apart to provide instructors with time to disinfect the studio and sanitize the equipment with an EPA-registered, virus-killing disinfectant.
  • If a member does not attend a scheduled class, a warning will be issued. After three occurrences, the member will be denied access to the Mindbody app for one week. They will, however, be allowed to remain on standby.

Group Exercise Etiquette

Class Booking

  • To ensure physical distancing, we have limited the capacity for all group fitness classes. Advance booking is recommended to attend classes. Priority will be given to members who have a reservation.

Studio Access

  • Studios will open ten minutes before class start time. Members will be asked to use hand sanitizer before entering the studios. Studios will be closed in between classes to ensure the studio, and all equipment, are thoroughly disinfected.

Equipment

  • All group fitness classes, including cycling, are designed to facilitate distance between members. Our team will set-up the studio with needed equipment in advance. If a member requires additional equipment, a team member can assist. Only team members are permitted in the equipment area.

Basketball

  •  When the courts are not in use for other programming, the use of the basketball hoops while practicing social distancing is allowed.
  • Gameplay is not permitted at this time.
  • Basketball courts in the Scheck Family Gymnasium may be reserved through the Mind Body app or by emailing eakerman@marjcc.org  or calling 305-932-4200, ext. 228.
  • Each session starts on the hour for a 45-minute interval.
  • The gym will close for a period of 15 minutes to allow staff to disinfect and set-up the gymnasium for the next group.
  • A maximum of six (6) players are allowed in the gym–one group per hoop.
  • Players sharing a hoop must be from the same household.
  • Members must bring their own basketball.
  • Water fountains are turned off; please bring a water bottle.
  • A member can only reserve one time slot per session, but there is no limit to the number of time slots a member can reserve.
  • If a member does not use their scheduled time, a warning will be issued. After three occurrences, the member will be denied access to the Mind Body app for one week. They will, however, be allowed to remain on standby.
  • Youth sports leagues will resume when local and state guidelines allow.

Tennis and Pickleball Courts

  • Only MARJCC members can play tennis and pickleball.
  • Singles play, and doubles play are permitted.
  • Doubles tennis play allows two players on each side of the court with a maximum of four players on the court. All players are separated by a minimum of 10 feet or more at all times.
  • Players must wear a face mask when arriving and departing the Tennis Center.
  • No direct contact with fellow tennis players or staff is allowed.
  • Players are encouraged to bring a towel and personal sanitizer for use before and after play.
  • All furniture has been temporarily removed from the tennis courts.
  • While using the facility, it is the member’s responsibility to wear gloves or another “form of protection” when touching objects like door handles or using the gate entry.
  • MARJCC routinely cleans, disinfects, and sanitizes the tennis area.
  • For sanitary reasons, please use the additional trash cans in the tennis facility to dispose of personal gloves, wipes, facemasks, and other personal items.
  • Water fountains are turned off; please bring a water bottle.
  • Tennis Center management reserves the right to limit play or close any courts if social distancing guidelines are not observed.
  • No socializing permitted before or after play. Players should leave campus once the match is over.
  • Members must bring their own equipment; use of MARJCC equipment, including ball machines, tennis ball baskets, or balls, is prohibited.
  • Players should stay on their side of the court—only switching sides at the end of the set.
  • Courts are subject to closure due to rain or inclement weather conditions.

Reservations

  • Only MARJCC members in good standing can reserve a court.
  • Tennis court reservations can be made online for singles play only via playbycourt.com.
  • Both tennis players must be MARJCC members, or we will cancel the court reservation. Please include the names of both players when booking your court reservation.

Check-In

  • Check-in occurs outside the Tennis Pro Shop. Please bring your current MARJCC membership card.
  • Access to the Tennis Pro Shop and restrooms is not available.
  • Arrive at the MARJCC as close to your reservation time as possible.
  • An adult must accompany teens under the age of 14.
  • Members will enter through the northwest gate and check-in with the staff.
  • All participants must sign a MARJCC waiver.

Tennis Lessons

  • If you are interested in scheduling a tennis lesson with one of our pros, please contact us via our WhatsApp Tennis group.
  • Tennis lessons must be paid in advance by telephone or credit card on file.
  • Only private one-on-one lessons are available, no group lessons.
  • An adult must accompany teens under the age of 14 during the lesson.

Aquatics

Outdoor Pool

  • Face masks are required in the pool area, except when actively swimming.
  • The pool will only be available for lap swim/pool walking. No recreational swimming is permitted.
  • Maximum of one member per lane, up to six lanes available.
  • Members will be assigned lanes.
  • Swimmers will start on the opposite side and alternate lanes of the pool.
  • Lap swimming is available from 6:00 a.m. until 8:45 a.m. and 4 p.m. until 7:45 p.m.
  • Each session will start on the hour for a 45-minute interval.
  • The outdoor pool will close for a period of 15 minutes each hour to allow staff to clean, disinfect, and sanitize the pool area.
  • Entry into the pool area is only permitted through the main building.
  • Exit from the pool area through the outdoor pool gate next to the preschool playground.
  • No water aerobics/fitness classes are offered at this time. We will continue to evaluate this throughout the reopening process.
  • Members must bring their own swim equipment.
  • Children under 13 years of age are not be allowed in the outdoor pool area without being accompanied by a parent/legal guardian.
  • Private Parent/Toddler (Minnows) swim lessons are available with a reservation.
  • Locker rooms are open for bathroom usage only.
  • Please arrive at the MARJCC in your swim attire and with your sunscreen already applied so you can maximize your swim session. Changing in or out of your swim attire at the MARJCC is not permitted.
  • Deck chairs are placed on the starting side of each lane, six feet apart.
  • Water fountains will be unavailable, please bring your water bottle.
  • Outside food and drink are not be permitted in the pool area.

Reservations in MINDBODY

  • Due to limited space, a reservation—made in advance using the Mindbody app— is required to use the pools, fitness center, Scheck Family gymnasium, and group exercise classes.
  • Please download the Mindbody app from the App Store or Google Play.
  • Reservations can be made seven days in advance up until 30-minutes before the class begins.
  • If you have any questions about logging in or how to make reservations within Mindbody, please email fitness@marjcc.org and a member of the fitness center will provide assistance.

How to set up the MINDBODY app

  1. Download the free MINDBODY app from the App Store or Google Play.
  2. Launch the MINDBODY app and tap <Continue with Email>.
  3. Enter your email address (use the email address with which you receive emails from the MARJCC), then tap Next. (Please note: if you already have a username and password, it will prompt for both your email address and password.)
  4. Create and enter a password, then tap <Next>.
  5. Enter your first name, last name, country, and email preference, then tap <Let’s Go>.
  6. You’re Almost Done! Check your email to confirm your account.
  7. Click on the confirmation link within the email, and you’re ready to use the app.

How to make a reservation using the MINDBODY app

  1. Login to the app.
  2. In the search box at the top of the screen, type MARJCC, and choose My Location. Please note you will need to make sure the location settings are turned on for the app to use your location.
  3. Tap on Michael-Ann Russell Jewish Community Center and then tap the heart in the top right corner so that you can easily access reservations in the future.
  4. Then tap the <View Schedule> button.
  5. There are two tabs, classes, and appointments.

    Tap the Classes tab to reserve a spot for a group exercise class, to make a fitness center reservation, reserve a swim lane, or schedule basketball in the gymnasium.

    Tap the Appointments tab to book a personal training session or a private Pilates class.

    To reserve a class, select the date, and you will see class options.

    Tap the Book button to the right of the class you are reserving. Then tap <Next>, then <Submit>, and then <Book>.

    Please note the app will not allow you to make a reservation if the class is full.

    Tap the service you are interested in, and you will see the reservation options.

    Select one of the options. Then, select the date and time you want to reserve and tap <Complete Booking>.

 How to set up the MINDBODY desktop version

  1. Visit org/mindbodydesktop.
  2. In the Sign-in section, click the <Need new password> link.
  3. Enter your email address (use the email address with which you receive emails from the MARJCC) and click <Next>.
  4. Go to your email inbox and open the password reset email.
  5. Follow the prompts to reset your password.
  6. Sign in at org/mindbodydesktop with your email address and new password.

Reservations in playbycourt

  1. Log in.
  2. Enter your email address (use the email address with which you receive emails from the MARJCC), then tap Next. (Please note: if you already have a username and password, it will prompt for both your email address and password.)
  3. Select MARJCC as your preferred facility.
  4. Upload a profile photo.
  5. Indicate your level of skill.
  6. Find friends.
  7. Click <Book Now>.
