Former Venezuelan National Swimming Team Coach and Swimmer, Ysidro Gonzalez, has been named Head Swim Coach for the Michael-Ann Russell Jewish Community Center.
As the former Venezuelan National Swimming Team Coach, Mr. Gonzalez most recently led his team to the World University Games in South Korea (’15) and Pan Am Games in Toronto (’15). He was responsible for conditioning, training, and performance of the team.
At the MAR-JCC, Ysidro will focus on the mental and physical preparation of its swimmers through water and dry land workouts. Water work includes technical stroke improvement and conditioning. Out of the pool, he will focus on the swimmers’ flexibility, strength, and aerobic conditioning. The workouts will be done with positive reinforcement and constant encouragement.
The best advice that Gonzalez said he’s received from his coaches and he will share with his team, “Base your work on long-term goals. Reinforce the goals in the short-term and you’re guaranteed to be a success.”
Ysidro holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from Zulia State University (Universidad del Zuilia-LUZ).
