Social Worker/Senior Programs Coordinator – Galit Shemesh – x142
The Quality of Life Senior Wellness Program is funded by the State of Florida through the Alliance for Aging; by Miami-Dade County through the Department of Human Services; the Health Foundation of South Florida; and the United Way of Miami-Dade. It uses fitness and exercise training to improve senior adults’ ability to perform necessary activities of daily living and utilizes social events and educational programs to enhance and promote each participant’s emotional wellness. Open to all year-round Florida residents over the age of 60.
The SilverSneakers® Fitness Program, developed by HealthCare Dimensions, is a long-term, cost-effective and preventive managed care solution. It is free to Humana, CARE PLUS members and is now associated with the MAR-JCC. SilverSneakers® is a unique exercise, physical activity, and social oriented program designed to encourage Medicare eligible members, often burdened by multiple chronic conditions, to increase their levels of physical activity, and motivate them to continue to be active.
